This past weekend...
We started the day off by going to a florist (family friend) to see if we could get the vision that theBride had for her day under her budget. The florist was sooo great with us and really gave us some good ideas to work with. She will get with us this week as to what the final cost will be, but we are confident that it will all work out. :)
Then we went with theBride to get the Jewelry for the bridesmaids. She wanted us to be with her so that we could give her our opinion on what would look good. She picked out some great stuff and we are excited to wear it!!
We ended up going to lunch at Cafe Express (YUM!) and then on a whim, went to David's Bridal so that I could try on the bm dress once and for all. I was really nervous as I am not one to go shopping let alone try on clothes! So we get there and there are atleast 8,255 other girls there trying on dresses.... ok maybe not that many, but it sure did feel like it! Anyway, we start the search for what I think my size will be only to find out that they can't find that dress in 'my size'. Onward... I see that there is one dress left, but it's two sizes smaller than what I normally wear (what they call street size). So I pick up the dress and take it to the dressing room. My heart is POUNDING in my ears and I am soo nervous and embarrassed that I will be trying on a dress that is two sizes too small that quite possibly won't zip up! So Bianca is walking behind me with her size 4 which is 50 sizes smaller than mine (ok, not 50, but it just could be!) So she puts hers on first and then I do mine and by this time, I can feel beads of sweat start to form on my brow as she slowly starts to zip up the dress. I get anxious as she says "wait...this fits you!" I am like, 'what?' I ask her if it's zipped all the way and she says YUP! I am on cloud nine!!!! OMG... I am seriously on cloud nine!!! I just put on a dress that is two sizes smaller than my 'street size' - while it my just be the cut of the dress that makes it so that I can wear a smaller size, I DON'T CARE! LOL...
So, with my head held high, I put the dress back on the rack and we head out to Hobby Lobby. What we were looking for there was a thick black ribbon so that theBride could tie it (sash like) on her dress. We found it in no time (at half price) and got a few other things as well.
All in all, a very productive wedding planning/accomplishment day!

T Minus 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 days...
My little sister is getting married. Where has the time gone? This year will mark my third anniversary and I can't believe that my little Ellie (who will now be referred to as theBride) will be married in just a few short months.
It seems like only yesterday she was gushing about a new crush that she met on yahoo personals. Now she is talking about cake toppers and honeymoon locations.
Let me go back to my days as a bride. When I got engaged, I did not hesitate to ask Ellie to be my Maid of Honor. She was by far a great example of what I can be for her.
Here are my three girls at my wedding circa 2006 - theBride is the one with the cleavage in the front, Bianca (our cousin) with the great body on the left and Jess (my bff), the beautfiul smile on the right.! Now theBride has like 22 bm's in her wedding - like Whoa! J/K, but she seriously does have quite a few. As a matter of fact, she has a Maide of Honor as well as me (Matron). She is that cool, that she has two! So in all she actually has 8 girls (including her two women of honor) - I'm telling you, that's how she rolls!!!!
So it starts. Prior to Jan 1,2009 - not much had needed to be done on my part, but here we are, less than 5 months away and it's gonna go by fast. I mean just last week it was my 29th birthday. My oh My where have the years gone?
Here is what theBride has done so far:
The date - check! June 13
The colors scheme - check! Black, White and Apple green as an accent - doesn't that sound so chic???
The cereomony location - check! - it's a secret!
The reception location - check! another secret! (I mean come on, we don't need any wedding crashers! The guest list is already high enough!)
Wedding dress - check! double, triple even!
BM dresses chosen - check!
There a lot more, and hey! we still have a smidge of time! - but prepare yourself for a rip roaring time as these next few months unfold!
First duty on the MOH agenda:
Plan a gtg for the bridesmaids to try on, order, and pay for our dresses. <--CHECK! We have our first meeting of the year for Feb 15th - to get this taken care of!
Second - go with theBride to finalize flowers and some bm gifts as well as makeup trial. <--check, we are scheduled to do that this Sat. btw.. here is our bm dress! (oops... if I lose you on the abbreviations, just think wedding and what could that possibly stand for in a wedding - ex: bm=bridesmaid. get it?) our dress will be black. Very chic! PS... I hope it looks this good on me! - you laugh, but I have already lost 2 lbs... that's right folks, I am gonna look good! Well, I will try to let theBride be the prettiest there, but what can I say - I'm going for KNOCK OUT! LOL
